Griffin Lake Lodge

Well here we are, a third of the way through September. We just got back from a fabulous wedding in Minneapolis, and even though our trip to BC has now been a month passed, we feel compelled to share our adventures nonetheless. We have been so fortunate to see so many beautiful places this summer, but none more so than the wonderful Griffin Lake Lodge!

What makes this beautiful Bed & Breakfast so special is not just it’s location (on the foot of a small lake), but owner/operators Wayne & Heather, and their exceptional attention to detail. You see, originally this lodge was a furniture mill, bereft of decoration, and in some cases, even walls. In 1999, Wayne & Heather came along to seize the opportunity, and after 2 long years of hard work renovations, opened it up to the public. In the 11 years in between, they have furnished and manicured all parts of their property, inside and out. Included, but not limited to this, are a beautiful little boat house, 2 side cabins, a gorgeous reading room and of course the 6 main rooms, each politely decorated with it’s own theme.

But wait a minute. I mentioned it’s beautiful setting, didn’t I? Well I wasn’t kidding. Located just 20 minutes West of Revelstoke, it shares the lake with only 4 properties. These properties are family owned, and located at the far side of the lake, giving you privacy, peace and quiet. And to make sure you get to enjoy that quiet, they provide complimentary canoe and kayak rentals, both of which we were happy to oblige.

And finally, if our stay wasn’t good enough already, we were pleasantly surprised by the home cooking Heather provided. Healthy, hearty and well proportioned. Once full, the only thing left to do was pour a glass of wine, say a little toast, and take in the scenery. – Tyler + Jessie
